I believe the difference is size is that the system creates a speical 'install file' that is around 7gb for that specific computer. Once at this point and it was around 3.6GB and right before the restart prompt, at which point it was over 10GB. Copy the "C:\$Windows.~BT" to another location on the hard drive, or a flash drive. This is a hidden folder, you should enable "show hidden folders" in the folder options to see this.ģ. At this point you should be able to see the folder "C:\$Windows.~BT". While watching the progress bar for Windows 8.1, at some point the status will switch from "downloading" to "applying". Go to the Windows store and download Windows 8.1 update.Ģ. = Phase 1 - Getting source files from the first machine =ġ.
